***June 2010 Update***

In the last five months we have come several steps further to completing the new “Current” outreach facility. The exterior siding and brick are up, a large percentage of the electrical work has been finished and some of the duct work for the heating and air is in place. Recently, volunteers also poured concrete for some of the sidewalks outside the church. The next building phase will be installing insulation and sheet rock.
“Everything that is up on this building has been completely paid for. We only have about $20,000 left to raise in order to cover the rest of the expenses for this project. Thanks to everyone who has donated their money and time,” said Pastor Ronnie Gilmore.

“The Current” Building Project Moves Forward
(February 2010)

Since last November, the building project for the new “Current” church facility has seen more progress, propelling it closer to completion. The front door has been installed, siding is in place on the exterior, and part of the stage has been finished. Volunteers are also preparing for the electrical work.

The exterior brick has been purchased and is ready to be installed as soon as the weather permits. As soon as funds become available, most of the remaining work on the church includes putting up sheet rock throughout the building, doing the electrical and audio/video work, plumbing, insulation, installing bathroom fixtures and tile in the bathrooms and foyer, as well as the painting.

According to the leaders of this project, we are only about $25,000 away from being able to purchase all of the materials that will allow us to complete the building and begin holding services in the new facility.

“Thank you to those who have donated and are helping us move forward with this project. We know times are hard but people have still had a heart to give,” said Pastor Ronnie Gilmore.

Butterfield Church would also like to thank Calvary Assembly of God for donating the lighting fixtures that will be hung in the new sanctuary.

***November 2009 Update***

All of the work that has been completed so far on the new outreach facility for “The Current” has been completely paid for. As soon as the funds become available, the next step is to install a glass front door, which will cost approximately $2400. Once the door is in place, the church will be ready to begin the next phase of construction that includes putting up siding and brick on the outside as well as building a stage and starting the electrical work for the inside.

“I would like to thank those who have been involved financially or physically with this project,” said Pastor Ronnie Gilmore. “Also a special thanks goes to the Gospel Rescue Mission for allowing us to use their facility for our children’s church in the meantime.”

“The Current” has continued to hold services in the old building until construction is completed.

Recently, the materials and labor were donated to replace the old roof and leaky ceiling on the existing church building. Thank you to those who have contributed to improve the present conditions.

Blessings are Pouring into New Outreach Facility

If you drive by 414 South 4th Street in Van Buren, you will see that we are making huge progress on our new outreach church facility.

The new building will accommodate 240 people and replace the outdated facility the church has used for over a year. The congregation at “The Current,” which began under the Fort Smith Midland Bridge in 2006, has grown from around 50 attendees a week to so many that a larger facility is essential to its future growth.

“This building is going to give us much more space. We are currently just barely making due in the building we are in,” said Kevin Hardcastle, pastor at “The Current.”

Most of the materials and labor have been donated for the work that has been completed so far. The indoor sprinkler system has just been put in, the shingles are on the roof and the windows are now installed. The next project is to install the electrical wiring and heating and air as the funds become available.

The church has received several recent blessings to add to the building. A 12 by 14 foot tall steeple was donated that will be wired to light up at night. North Park Baptist Church also donated 40 like-new pews for the new sanctuary.

“God has been so good to us! I can hardly wait to see what He does next! We are now praying for volunteers who know how to lay sheet rock,” said Pastor Hardcastle.
